Drugs and Disease: Nervous System Disease and Therapy
PATH220/PHAR255/BIOM255
Units: 4
Quarter: Spring
Location: CMME 2047
Time: 8:30 - 10:00 A.M.

This course covers a variety of diseases of the nervous system and illustrates how appreciating mechanisms of disease can lead to new approaches to treatment of the disease. The goal of this class is to develop the ability of students to understand how specific, well- designed experiments lead to the clear understanding of important research questions. Content is divided into five themes, structure and function, muscle and nerve, Spinal cord, CNS pharmacology and CNS neurodegenerative diseases. Each theme will consist of three lectures followed by a group discussion session where research papers pertinent to the theme will be presented and critiqued by students.
